I recently found I was having trouble with my picco z controller and I wasn't sure if it was sending out the infrared signal to the helicopter. Since you can't see IR with the naked eye, I took out my digital camera and looked through through the viewfinder.
Sure enough there was a blue light, clear as day....
The two pics below show the controller. First is as it would be to the naked eye, second is with the IR light visible.
